Sophisticated, glamorous, hard-worker and risk taker are words which can be used to describe make-up artist Latoya Lewis, better known as Toya. On her social media page Glamoutartbytoya, you can see some of her artistic work. The St. Lucian Hub interviewed the make-up artist extraordinaire and this is what she had to say.
How would you describe yourself?
I see myself as an extremely outgoing and self-driven individual who enjoys the simple things.

What was your proudest achievement as a make-up artist?
I have had so many, to be honest. I can say being featured in essence magazine and also being selected as a brand ambassador for two prestigious corporate brands.
Who inspired you to take the plunge and become a freelancer?
My partner. He pushed me and believed in my talent.
What were some challenges you faced when deciding to become a freelance make-up artist?
Not really challenges but the what-ifs. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to support myself, and I would have to go back to
the world of work.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a make-up artist or wants to create a brand for themselves?
Go for it! I know it sounds cliché, but it’s true. Look for creative ways to expand and market your business.

I am working on several projects. Can’t disclose much right now, but expect great things
